Hello, this is a superb site, I am really impressed - I am currently writing an assignment for my Nursing Degree about my origins and ethncity and this site has been so helpful. My father visited the Hunter Castle last year and brought me back a Hunter Clan Tartan Tie and a video also. Anyway thanks heaps - I shall no doubt be visiting this site again. |

Hello tracing my fathers mother. She was Martha Hunter born July 30 1882. Many members of her family still live bellshill gald to know there still other hunters doing well. When in Scotland a few years back found it hard to get Clan Hunter items well thanks Ted Hill. |

I know that my family came here (USA) in the 1700's and that the name of most of the men in my line was Russell Adams Hunter (my father included). I will look into the possibility. I have just found you and it feels like coming home. My great grandfather came from Peebles to Edinburgh then my father Ronald Alexander Hunter went off to England where my four siblings still live. David Morris Hunter, Margaret Helen Hunter, Janet Scott Hunter and Robert William Hunter. I have been extraodinarily lucky to find myself just up the water from Hunterston on Loch Long. I will be making a pilgrimage to Scotland in a couple of days to take young adults to Iona, etc. I have a bound and printed family volume "The Hunter Family of Virginia and Connections" which traces my roots to one Dr. John Hunter (b. circa 1721) of Alexandria Virginia, "formerly of Hunterston, County Ayr, Scotland: emigrated from Scotland to Virginia about 1746...died January 1764 ..married about 1751."
